Based on its geographical position in Central Europe as well as its access to the European single market, Germany is a major hub for international startups. The German Startup Association does not only maintain active relations with startups, experts, organizations and political actors within Europe but also worldwide.
As a member of the Startup Nations (SN), part of the broader Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN), we represent the German startup ecosystem during the annual Startup Nations Summit (SNS). This constantly educates us on current best practices to further develop our own national ecosystem.
Furthermore, the association sees itself as a soft landing point for political delegations and students travelling to Germany to seek insights into the German startup ecosystem. We organize several annual trade missions to startup hotspots, such as the Silicon Valley or New York in the United States of America or Tel-Aviv in Israel, to provide our members and interested individuals access to our broad-international network.
In addition to facilitating the transfer of knowledge, we actively advocate the internationalisation of startups through exchange projects. The association promotes Germany as a startup hotspot to attract the establishment of more subsidiaries of internationally successful startups in Germany. Supported by the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy, the German Startups Association initiated its first project with the German Israeli Startup Exchange Program (GISEP) in the year 2016.
